Overcoming Fear
Which is the greater power in your life, fear or faith? Fear has its place, but so does faith. Too often fear rules and holds us back. Overcoming fear and living more by faith will give us a more full life.
Whether you believe in the Bible or not, it teaches principals that can be valuable regardless of your religion and beliefs. One account teaches about the consequences of letting fear rule instead of faith.
Moses led the Children of Israel out of Egypt into the wilderness towards the Promised Land. They got to its borders and Moses sent out twelve spies to learn about the land and its inhabitants.
After forty days, those spies came back and reported. Ten told how wondrous and bountiful the land was, but also warned how large and ferocious the inhabitants were and encouraged Moses to not go in. Two of the spies agreed how wondrous and bountiful the land was but had faith, and encouraged Moses to move in right away.
The people were filled with fear and rebelled. The Lord punished their lack of faith by causing them to wander in the wilderness forty years until that entire generation of adults died. Only Joshua and Caleb, the two spies who had faith, lived to enter the Promised Land.
If the Children of Israel had followed a direct path from Egypt to the Promised Land and had faith to enter, it would have taken only 11 days.
Don’t let fear rule your life. Live by faith. Take a direct path to the Promised Land, whatever that may be for you.
