Break It Down

You want to accomplish huge things? You want to go places? You want to make it big? The problem is you don’t know how.

It’s not really a problem. There’s a way you can accomplish anything you want. You just have to break it down into smaller pieces, and then focus on doing a small piece at a time.

The world’s tallest skyscraper started out at ground level. They developed a plan, assembled the materials, then got to work one level at a time.

Here’s the secret. First, determine exactly what it is you want to accomplish. What is your exact goal? A vague goal won’t cut it. You need to be specific as to what it is you want to accomplish.

Once you’ve figure out exactly what you want to accomplish, establish a detailed plan on how to get what you want. If you try and work without a plan, you’ll only waste your time, spin your wheels, and become frustrated. If you can’t figure out your plan, then you need to do more research until you know the path you need to follow to get what you want. You can’t arrive at a destination by wandering around in the dark.

Next, break your plan down into smaller, easily achievable steps. Make each step simple, doable, and easily understood.

After that, you simply do the work of completing each step along the way. Again, you’ve set the overall plan to get what you want at the beginning. That’s when you looked at the “˜big picture’. Now you focus on the step you’re doing at the time. You can look, visualize, and dream of your ultimate goal, but don’t dwell on it too long and be distracted from the task at hand. If you lose focus on the immediate work, you’ll start to wander again and get lost from the path you need to follow to achieve your ultimate goal.

Have a big goal? Break it down to smaller, simple steps, and breeze your way to big things a small step at a time.
